In Tibetan art, Padmasambhava (Guru Rimpoche) is represented with various accouterments that have special symbolic meaning.
For instance, he is normally shown with five colored pieces of silk, indicating the “five wisdoms” (powers that come to one after a high level of spiritual attainment, corresponding to each of the five Tantric / cosmic Mahayana Buddhas).
He is also shown with the sun and the moon, symbolizing skillful means and wisdom.
