The relative lack of water in the Harijan colony may play a role in lower levels of sanitation and impede hygienic practices (Gilman et al., 1993). Dry sanitation, with its
advantages of vastly reduced water use, recycling of bio waste and segregation of animal and human faeces to prevent groundwater contamination (Peasey, 2000; Scott,2002), could provide a solution to the sanitation problems of Nelvoy village.
