The chain of infection has been utilized to explore the risks associated with the transmission of blood-borne viruses (BBV). Existing practice has been analyzed through audit and then compared to evidence-based practice; recommendations required to improve practice have also been identified. It emphasizes the difficulties that may be encountered with the implementa- tion of a new practice and how the Lewin’s framework for change (1951) can be utilized to implement the required changes to clinical practice.
