This was followed by the speech of His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Abdul Ahad, Regional Director of the UNFPA for the Arab States, which focused on the importance of the cooperation between PPC and UNFPA, pointing out that the periodic review and continuous evaluation of population policies are vital. Thus, the evaluation carried out by the State of Qatar for its population policy provides another example of commitment to professional standards and best practices in dealing with population and development issues.
In the second session, after the above-mentioned welcoming speeches, Mr. Sultan Al Kuwari , PPC Vice Chairman, gave a presentation about the action plan and the priorities of the second phase of the population policy evaluation plan (October 2015-2016). As for the third and final session, it was dedicated for working groups to discuss the six themes of the population policy (population and manpower; urban growth, housing and environment; education, training and youth; public health and reproductive health; women and children; and elderly and persons with disabilities), in order to develop future directions for the second phase of the first six-year evaluation of the population policy.
