When your feet need a rest, sample some of the famous Thai street food. Khao San road is littered with a variety of stalls and the food is often incredibly cheap as well as extremely tasty. Pad Thai , an egg-based noodle dish combined with some kind of meat or tofu is one of our favourites.
If a shopping centre is more your kind of thing, Siam square is the biggest shopping complex in Bangkok where all the major superstores and western brands and shops can be found. If you’re looking for something in particular you may be able to find it in Siam square at a fraction of the price it may be sold in Europe. The complex also holds an air-conditioned cinema which can be a cool and relaxing break from shopping.
Shopping can also continue into the night, and visiting Patpong’s night market is certainly an experience. The market will often stay open til around 1am and it’s situated within the red light district next to many bustling bars and clubs making people-watching very entertaining. However the items sold are often considerably more expensive than other markets in Bangkok and are often fake and of low quality so practice your haggling skills!
