On a global basis, the use of renewable biofuels (transport fuels derived from biomass feedstock) is
expected to increase rapidly over the next decades. Biodiesel, the
first-generation biofuel, is generally produced from a variety of
renewable lipids such as virgin vegetable oils, waste vegetable
oils, animal fats and non-edible oils. Biodiesel has similar physicochemical properties as the diesel produced from crude oil, and
