Nominally off-road driving in Western Australia is restricted by the Control ofVehicles (Off-Road Areas) Act 1978 (WA), but in practice there are no patrols in areas such as the Central Coast. Land managers may designate sacrificial areas for intensive use by off-road vehicles in order to protect the remainder, but many recre- ational drivers disregard such restrictions.
