Saying, “It’s up to you” - It’s certainly not attractive when a woman is bossy, but an underrated turn off is to be incredibly indecisive. The first few times you heard a Thai girl tell you, “It’s up to you” was a refreshing change from getting nearly the opposite from women in your home country, but isn’t there a happy medium? I think we can all agree that a man asking the question, “where do you want to eat today?” to a Thai girl is basically a waste of breath and time, unless you want to show your visiting friend just how predictable her response will be. I can handle making all of the decisions on where to go and what to do even though it does get tiresome, but I can’t handle when girls say, “it’s up to you” in completely inappropriate and totally nonsensical instances. “It’s up to you” is not an acceptable response to the question, “can I buy you a drink?” If you’re looking for spare cash tell your girlfriend she has to pay you 20 baht every time she says the infamous phrase.
Nose picking - You see a beautiful woman standing by herself in broad daylight in a parking lot and you’re thinking to yourself, “Only in Thailand is there an exotic looking sexy girl on every street.” And then 20 seconds later you think to yourself, “Only in Thailand would a hot girl go hunting for nose treasure without thinking twice about who might catch them in the act.” There are obviously worse things in life and you do sort of get numb to seeing it after a while. But if you have a girlfriend or wife in Thailand, I think this you have to put a 1,000 baht fine in place for any time you catch her in the act.
Bush - Bar girls and dancers usually at least trim their “below the belt hair,” and I stress the word usually as there are plenty of exceptions to that rule. But if you you’re lucky enough to see a non-professional Thai girl disrobe you need to be prepared for a 70’s style bush. Again, it’s not the worst thing in the world, but after being spoiled enough times by “well trimmed trim,” I think it’s OK to tell a girl to get clipping if it’s out of control down there. For the sake of being sanitary I think it’s the right move to make.
L’s and R’s- Look I understand that English is not an easy language to master, and since I’m in Thailand I obviously can’t be overly critical of Thai’s who don’t speak good English. My issue is actually not at all with Thai girls who don’t speak English. My pet peeve is that once girls get to a level where they can have a decent conversation with an English speaker they usually shut down their wiliness to learn even a drop more. It demonstrates a “just enough to get by attitude” that isn’t all that uncommon here. You hear so many girls say, “Centron” when they’re trying to say, “Central.” Now if “L’s were that hard for them to say I’d get it, but let’s keep in mind how many of them say “leally” when they’re trying to say, “really.” So clearly they can say “L’s” as demonstrated by their word, “Leally.” So if you can say “Leally” shouldn’t you be able to say, “central?”
Sitting sideways on a motorbike- It kills me when I see this; I just don’t get it. There are many motorbike issues to go over and perhaps it’s an article topic to explore one day, but when a girl is sitting sideways on a bike, she’s saying, “I don’t have a problem increasing the odds of me getting hurt dramatically during this ride.” I know some of them just don’t think their skirt or their dress will do well sitting properly on the bike; but whenever I’ve insisted that girls sit normally on the bike after they try to sit sideways, amazingly after a shuffle or two everything is fine. Riding a bike is dangerous in general; I think the least we can do is make sure not to add any extra danger to the mix.
Never having baht on their phone- Do Thai women think putting anymore than 50 baht on their phone at a time is too risky? Enough is enough! Because they’re unwilling to load a couple hundred baht at a time on their phone, they wind up screwed in case of emergency and they wind up making many extra trips to the store. When will they get it?
Buying their way into heaven- I’m respectful of anyone’s faith and the time people devote to it and I think that’s only fair. So if a girl wants to donate her time and some pocket money to her Temple that’s fantastic. But when a girl and/or her family, who are far from being financially stable, donate heaps of cash to their temple just for appearances’ sake or to try and buy their way into some type of sanctity or heaven, this is a problem for me. I know plenty of men who give financial support to their girlfriend’s family, finding out later that they use a large portion of it to donate to their Temple. That is totally ridiculous and it really goes against the values of the faith in the first place. There is a way to be respectful of someone’s faith without having to waste any of your money on it.
