Preparation of char from coconut shell
Preparation of char from coconut shell was carried out as
previously described [13]. Coconut shells were pulverized and
sieved to 2.0–3.0 particle size. Pulverized sample (15 g) was
pyrolyzed, in a furnace (Carbolite, CTE 12/75). During pyrolysis,
nitrogen gas at a flow rate 0.1 m3/h was used as purge gas.
The furnace temperature of 600 ◦C was maintained for 2 h. The
weight loss of the sample was determined by the difference in the
weight of the sample before and after pyrolysis. The pyrolyzed
sample was crushed into powder form.
