The rule of law, or lack of, is a titanic-sizea iceberg of a problem facing this country However, I take a slightly contrarian view of the problem compared with most of the commentators to this newspaper. There are two parts to the problem. The very visible part of the iceberg; the enforce- ment of laws by police. The invisible and much larger part of the iceberg is the en forcement of justice by our legal system. The justice system is riddled with corrupt and inept lawyers coupled with a judici- ary that is highly politicised and partisan Hence, justice is dispensed based on money, class and connections. Justice itself has a small part to play in that system So if we really want rule of law and justice for all in this country, we may find police reform might just be the easy part of the job!
