Diagnosis — Leaf simple, narrowly oblong, with shallow,
distinct plications; venation pinnate eucamptodromous; approximately
20 pairs of secondary veins; MVP type II, (differing
from leaves of M . indica with mixed type II and III MVP),
approximately 5 – 6 exmedial loops and/or multiangular shapes
(ELMAs); intersecondary veins frequent, mostly simple, some
composite; tertiary veins percurrent/forked, predominantly alternate;
quaternary and quinternary veins thick and orthogonal;
areoles well developed, oriented, mostly quadrangular, mostly
medium in size.
