Number-Line Hopscotch Make a line on the floor with masking tape, or mark one outside with sidewalk chalk. Mark off equal intervals, numbered 0-10. (For children who get math easily, you might extend the line forward to 20 or backward from 0 to minus 10.) Engage children in hopscotch games in which they jump forward and backward along the line, by Is, 2s, or 3s, calling out each number as they land on it. Or, see if children can follow instructions like “Start on 4 and take two steps back.”
