Lesson COG 34
Task: Identify body parts.
Prerequisites: ADT 1, ADT 4, COG 6
Concept: This task represents a functional use of receptive language skills. Communication regarding where the student does not feel well or memory activities of specific sequences can be a by-product of this effort. Some physical guidance, which is slowly faded, may be necessary to achieve the desired result. Suggested target words for responses are arm, leg, head, feet, hands, stomach, eyes, ears, nose, and mouth. Although pictures may be valuable in teaching this concept, they are not recommended, because the real object (the student's body) is preferred for teaching purposes.
Behavioral Objective: When requested to point to a specific body part, the student will accurately indicate the body part requested (from at least 10 taught choices) to a 90% accuracy level for 20 trials.
Materials: None.
