This was despite the significantly higher prey biomass in
Northern Tuli (1,216 ± SD 176.6 kg per km2) compared to
Venetia (375 ± SD 18.3 kg per km2; U50; P50.016,Mann–
Whitney U-Test). Population growth rates for both reserves
were low (Northern Tuli, 1.1 ± SE 0.1, range 0.6–1.8; Venetia,
1.0 ± SE 0.1, range 0.2–1.6) and did not vary substantially
over the study period (Fig. 2b).
