In knowledge-information society, information
technology is becoming the most important strategy to
provide quality of services for citizens and business. Ehealth
has been catching attentions of the world as it
combines the area of health care and information
technology. E-health can be described as total reform
of health care system since health care production,
supply, and management system are exchanged in a
digital form. Such innovation is expected to improve
health care service as a whole, reduce imbalance of
health care benefit, lower the cost of health care, and
strengthen competitiveness of related industry. Also, ehealth
could strengthen users’ sovereignty of health
care, change the relationship between service provider
and user, and change the behavior of health care
practice. Therefore, e-health would shift the traditional
health care service into a new paradigm.
The Korean government is also highlighting the
efficiency of health care service and actively putting ehealth
as a top priority in the policy agenda in order to
increase transparency of health care.
Hence this study will be looking at how e-health has
changed the traditional health care system and the
effect it has on the system. Furthermore, we will be
suggesting the role of health care governance and
policy direction in order for successful and stable
establishment of e-health in the health care delivering
system.
