Municipal solid waste (MSW) collection and transportation is a waste management activity that contributes substantially to hazardous environmental impact due to fuel consumption and consequent pollutant emissions, and can absorb a considerable share of the total system budget (Dogan and Suleyman, 2003; Ghose et al., 2006; Nguyen and Wilson, 2010).
