In the natural environment, the Sargassum spp. grow vertically
in the water column through the creeping stolon and air vesicles
on the lateral branches (Hanisak and Samuel, 1987). In this study,
all cultured seaweeds scattered in the water column maintained a
vertical position through gas vesicles and culture ropes, therefore,
the cultured seaweeds scattered in the net cage under similar conditions
of the seaweed bed, and the culture mode may not be the
key factor influencing seaweed growth.
