3. Results
We conducted a two-group randomized control study with
repeated assessments at baseline and end-of treatment (week 10)
with 43 HIV+ adults, of whom 40 completed all study procedures
(7% attrition). Our sample was predominately male (58%), African-
American (84%), single (79%), and unemployed (91%). Medically,
most had health insurance (86%), on average, and had been living
with HIV for 13 years, most were taking HIV anti-retroviral
medications (95%), and most had an undetectable HIV viral load
(67%). Four percent of our sample had been diagnosed with sleep
apnea (n=2; one participant in the intervention group and one
participant in the control group). There were no statistically
significant differences in baseline characteristics between participants
in the intervention group and those in the control group.
