removal of AFB1 (2.5% - 49.3%) reported by Joannis-Cassan et al.
(2011) for SC-based products from baker and brewer yeasts or
alcohol yeast at pH 3. The adsorption percentages reported in
previous studies with SC strains from different sources in PBS
ranged from 16.4 to 82% at different pH values . The high binding percentages
observed in our study may be a consequence of the presence of a
high number of cells available in the SC-based products for the
sequestration of AFB1. Coherently, the percentages of AFB1 bound
by DY and AY are in agreement with previous data on the use of SC
cells for decontamination of AFB1 from feeds
