Conclusion
This paper has provided an overview of the trade logistics sector in the Asia-Pacific from the twin standpoints of supply chain efficiency and inclusive development. Based on a review of internationally comparable data, it has shown that performance within the region varies substantially: some countries are world leaders in the sector, whereas the logistics environment is extremely challenging in others, particularly landlocked countries. It has also highlighted that international
indicators tend to focus on performance at key international gateways, and thus do not take full account of the difficulties of internal logistics processes, particularly in very large or archipelagic countries. In most countries, there is much that
policy makers can do to improve the logistics environment, both in terms of internal and external connectivity, to bring performance closer to the world technological frontier.
