Reservation price of timber and adaptive management decision
In an agro-forestry system which is composed of poplar timber and button mushroom, how does
the plantation of button mushroom affect the reservation price of timber harvesting? To answer this
question, we calculate the timber reservation prices both with button mushroom and without button
mushroom. On our test sample site, the density of pure forest is the same with the agro-forestry
because people there also wonder how much benefits planting button mushroom will bring to them
by comparing experiment, thus, the whole poplar forest has the same density, except that under some
of them there is button mushroom, while other without planting it. Table 5 shows the results.
Table 5 and Fig. 1 show that the reservation price of timber with button mushroom is higher
than that without it. When people plant button mushroom under poplar, only when the timber price
is extremely high, can people harvest it and stop the agro-forestry system. Therefore, in the agroforestry
system, planting button mushroom can increase the reservation price of timber. Namely, the
