Although being of similar reliability with regard to
specimen collection as position A, position B resulted in
higher hatching rates that only differed negligible from the
control group. Because of tilting the egg, the subsequent
pooling of the allantois takes place in a more defined area.
The embryo is not situated as close to the eggshell as in
position A and it is better protected against external
influences, such as perforation of the eggshell or sampling.
Therefore, this position should be preferred for sampling.
