As in experiment 1, the use of a micro-perforated OPP
maintained moderate O2 and CO2 levels in MAP (data not
shown). The gas composition reached inside the trays was
15 kPa O2 and 3 kPa CO2 in all treatments, except in Ca propionate
trays where the gas composition was closer to air
(18 kPa O2 and 2 kPa CO2) due to the lower respiration rate.
Control, Ca carbonate and Ca chloride treatments resulted in
ethylene levels of 0.55–0.60L L−1, and Ca lactate and propionate
0.4–0.3L L−1.
