Fresh weight, moisture content, and dry weight of the trash
left on the field was significantly higher after harvest of green
cane than of burned cane (Table 2), which was expected.
Furlani Neto et al. (1997), cited by Basanta (2004), reported
a weight of 19 t/ha for the trash left on the soil after greencane
harvest in Brazil. This confirms that the amount of trash
left on the field is an important aspect to be considered in the
crop management of green-cane harvesting productions
systems.
