From the beginning of the project, all CETT simulations
occurred on the perinatal unit, or in situ, as
none of the medical centers had simulation labs.
In situ training allowed teams to rehearse emergencies
in the real-life settings of their own units,
practice technical and nontechnical skills, identify
equipment needs, discuss individual and team
performance, and identify system failures through
postsimulation debriefings. The CETT simulations
taught staff the benefits of debriefing on all critical
events.
