The compound ingredients as shown in Table 1 were mixed on a two-roll mill at room temperature. The NR was first masticated to soften it. Subsequently, given amounts of all chemicals except Luperox® 101-XL 45 and SR533 were added to the masticated rubber. The mixture was then blended with FKM and further mixed. Lastly SR533 and Luperox® 101-XL 45 were added. To vulcanize the blends, they were compression molded using a hydraulic hot press at 180°C [2], under a pressure of 15 MPa according to their respective cure times, as determined by oscillating disk rheometer (ODR GT 707052). ODR gives digitals outputs of curing characteristics such as scorch time, cure times and torque value.
