discreteorderrelease.Thismeansthatreleaseoforderstotheshopfloortakesplacesonaperiodic
basis.Continuousorderreleasehasbeensomehowneglected,inspiteofitsapparentpotentialfor
improvingsystemperformance,includingthereductionoforderflowtimes.Thispaperpresentsa
simulationstudyofthisorderreleaseapproach.Thestudycontributesforimprovingthebasisfor
settingworkloadnorms,selectingtheworkloadcontrolstrategyanddecidinguponroutingalternatives
under continuousorderrelease.
