3.1.3 Organizational Commitment
The organizational commitment questionnaire (OCQ) was first introduced by
Mowday et al.‟s (1982) was used to measure the organizational commitment. It contains
9-item scales and the answering categories were ranging from „1-strongly disagree‟ to „7-
strongly agree‟. Examples of the items in the questionnaire are „I am willing to keep
working even though there are many jobs in the organization‟, „It is my best organization
of all choices in which to work for‟, „I would like to try my best to help my organization
success‟, and „It is my pleasure to tell my friends about my organization‟. The average
scores of all these items indicate the level of organizational commitment and the higher
scores, the higher level of the scales. The OCQ has been employed in several developing
countries by authors (Allen and Meyer, 1990).
