• Be safe with medicines. If the doctor prescribed cream or ointment, use it exactly as prescribed. Call your doctor if you think your child is having a problem with his or her medicine.
• Have your child sit in a few inches of warm water (sitz bath) 3 times a day and after bowel movements. The warm water helps the area heal and eases soreness.
• Avoid constipation:
o Include fruits, vegetables, beans, and whole grains in your child's diet each day. These foods are high in fibre.
o Give your child lots of fluids, enough so that the urine is light yellow or clear like water.
o Encourage your child to be active each day. Your child may like to take a walk with you, ride a bike, or play sports
