Standard prophylactic anticoagulation therapy is
provided. (6) Management of pain is a major point, often underestimated,
and necessitates respiratory monitoring. Pain is systematically
assessed on a 10-point visual analog scale (VAS) every 4
hours and based on the VAS score obtained, the treatment is
modified if necessary. If the VAS score is >4, morphine is initiated
by patient-controlled analgesia mechanisms.19 An intravenous (IV)
pulse of dexamethasone (1 mg/10 kg) can be added when the patient
is transported for a bath.
