At the specific site development level, environmental impact
assessment (EIA) is required only when tourism projects plan for
more than 80 rooms. If the natural attractions on which coastal
tourism depends are to be maintained, then EIA processes need
to consider both local and regional effects and precipitate monitoring
of impacts during the construction, implementation and operational
stages, include auditing to measure actual against predicted
impacts (Weston, 1997), and enshrine adaptive management
responses
