Lectins are nonimmune proteins or glycoproteins that bind specifically
to cell surface carbohydrates, with ability in cell agglutination.
Of all the mushroomproteins, lectins are probably the most extensively
investigated. During the past few years, many mushroom lectins have
been discovered (Singh et al., 2010). However, in the present review,we
primarily focus on the lectins possessing antiproliferative, antitumor,
and immunomodulatory activities.
