After a few sips I glanced next to me to see Red smiling softly at me and I put down my drink, a small bit of cocoa remaining on my chin. I wiped it off with my black sleeve and mimicked Red's smile gently. I let my smile fade as I looked down to look at Pikachu who was resting softly on my leg, and my smile quickly returned while looking at his cute little face.
"So.." Red whispered quietly, causing me to snap my head back up and look at him.
"Hm?" I responded questioningly, now looking at Red who was staring into his cup that he held in his right hand.
Red adjusted his red cap so that it shadowed his eyes and he looked into his lap at his steaming cup of cocoa.
"...I'm guessing you're really close to your Pokemon too, huh?" He said quietly, sounding more like a statement than a question. He didn't turn his head, but he glanced his red, shadowed eyes towards me. His voice sounded.. somewhat sad, but not quite. More understanding and concerned than sad. It was low and deep, but also soothing and.. somewhat calming. It made me wonder why he doesn't use it all that often...
"Yeah... yeah I am..." I muttered softly, looking down into my crossed lap as well. A small (h/c) lock fell into my face and rested right between my eyes, but I just let it lie there as I stared into my lap.
"Y'know, there's nothing wrong with that.." he muttered softly, staring at his Pikachu who rested softly at my side. "I'm kinda the same way..." he choked out, his voice somewhat muffled but loud enough for me to hear him.
I turned my head to my left to look at him and noticed him staring at his pokemon, a very faint smile forming on one side his face. I looked down at Pika, a smile very similar to his forming across my (pale/tan/dark) features. This little fella just seemed to bring a happy aura upon anyone that laid eyes on him, didn't he..? Heh..
"People always told me I was weird for being so close to my Pokemon... but I never really payed those people much mind. These little guys... they're the only things that have ever shown me any form of love or affection..." I whispered almost silently, twiddling with that one strand of hair that hung in the center of my (light/tan/dark) face. "I can't help but love them.. besides.. what kind of person would I be if I didn't return the feelings that they give me? Not a very good one, in fact..." I muttered, my voice so faint I almost thought he couldn't hear me. I looked up slightly to see into his eyes to see if he could understand a word I was saying. I looked up to notice that he was staring at me almost sadly, sincerity and understand flushing over his pale and somewhat handsome features.
"I understand completely.." He muttered quietly, looking back down at his yellow, mouse-like friend. He slightly looked back up, staring into my eyes softly, and it felt as if his crimson eyes were looking right through me, reading and taking in every single thing that I was feeling at this point. He smiled a very faint, understanding half smile, the emotions in his eyes still remaining.
I returned his small smile, my eyes softening while looking into his.
I let my head hang back down, my hair softly falling into my face again with a faint smile still painted on my face. I leaned over to grab my cocoa from the table and took a small sip, hearing his voice again while I was sipping my drink.
"Hey... I just realized something.." Red said gently, his voice no longer in a whisper, but still somewhat low, gentle softness still overfilling it.
"Hm?" I muffled slightly, glaceing over at Red from under my cup as I lowered it so that I could fully look at him again.
"I never got your name.." he said with light laugh and a gentle smile, looking into my eyes once again.
"Mm," I muffled, sounding as if I was saying 'oh', and then I swallowed my drink, wiping my lip with my sleeve. "It's.. it's (y/n)." I responded softly after finishing with my lip, mimicking his soft smile.
"(Y/n).. I like that... it suits you." He said soothingly, still smiling at me gently. I felt as though I was blushing ever so faintly from underneath my (h/c) hair, which was still hanging gently in my face. I let the faint smile remain as I looked into my half-empty mug again. Or maybe it was half-full? Heh, now I'm just being an idiot again..
I huffed a silent laugh at myself and continued to drink the hot cocoa, glancing to my left to see Red very slightly smiling into his cup.
"No.. no, it's definitely half full." he said softly, glaceing back at me with the faint smile that was exactly like mine, almost as though he were reading my mind.
