All interviews were audio recorded and transcribed in full. The transcripts were analysed
following typical qualitative procedures (e.g. Glaser & Strauss 1967; Strauss & Corbin 1998).Following the recommendations of (De Chernatony & Cottam 2006), phenomena within each of the interviews were compared with incidents from other interviews and with insights gained from the literature. This resulted in a comprehensive categorisation of the concepts and their roles evident in the data.
