The absorbance at 734 nm of all extracts andstandards (Trolox and ascorbic acid) decreasedrapidly within the first minute. Absorbancedecreases of extracts and blank (no extract) areshown in Figure 1. Significant differences betweenextraction solvents were found (p<0.05). Ethanolmixture extracts produced more absorbancedecrease than the water extract. For white holybasil, 38, 57, and 76% ethanol extracts showed thesignificantly highest absorbance decrement, butonly 57% ethanol extract did in the case of redholy basil.
