•Good presentation/public speaking skills.
•The ability to act as MC, timekeeper and adjudicator.
•The ability to steer group discussions, ask relevant questions (including obvious ones that others may be afraid to ask for fear of being thought silly), and where necessary,shut down discussions that are becoming destructive or unproductive.
•The ability to see events through the eyes of farmer attendees, to ensure that it is obvious how the information presented can be easily applied on their own properties.
•To this end, when utilising outside speakers; farmer hosts and farmer panels, these people need to be thoroughly prepped on what is expected; the type and sizeof audience and where to pitch their information. A list of questions to be answered within their presentation is very useful, as is requiring the presentation to be sent through in advance of the day.
•Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
•An ethos of regular and open communication with every-one else involved so there are no surprises.
•A good industry network or access to others who have.
•Enthusiasm and passion for the industry.
