Relations With Authority
A mature person strikes a balance between exaggerated esteem and passive compliance on the one hand, and aggressive rebelliousness on the other towards persons in authority. A balanced person is able to enter a critical and constructive dialogue with authority figures, in which one's own positive contribution is valued and the need for authority is also recognised. In the case of candidates, growth in trust would imply entering into trusting relationships with formators, spiritual directors and in some cases support groups to further develop relational skills (McClone, 2009).
