LOQ was determined to be 24 pM demonstrating the IMMULITE assay’s linearity well below the sensitivity of the assay,
enabling for the first time quantitative measurement of B12 concentrations below 50 pM in milk from vitamin B12 deficient
women. Whether or not analysis of B12 in human milk can be used as a non-invasive indicator for maternal and/or infant B12 status remains to be determined.
