The experimental equipment used to produce the
gas (Fig. 1) was two 100-mL glass syringes and a 500-
mL Erlenmeyer flask with a side opening. These items
were connected by a four-way pipe and silicone tubes.
The other opening in the four-way pipe was used for
gas sampling. During the reaction period, the sampling
port was closed to confine the entire reaction in a
closed system.
