Although English is used only as a foreign language in Thailand, its role in
Thai education is important for more than a century (Darasawang, 2007). According
to Bangkok Post published on December 30
th
2011, the Ministry of Education had
already launched the English Speaking Year 2012 campaign which conducted teaches
to let students practice their English speaking by various activities in schools.
Darasawang (2007) explained that since the 1999 National Education Act was first
enacted, the learning process in Thai schools changed from a more passive one to
more active one that encouraged students to develop critical and creative thinking.
