Several plants (Capsicum annuum, Lycium barbarum, Hippophae rhamnoides, Physalis alkekengi, Diospyros kaki and Cucurbita pepo) have been studied because of their high carotenoid content and have been proposed as source of these compounds for industry [42,43], therefore T. recta callus as an important source of lutein and other carotenoids such as zeaxanthin would be an option for food or pharmaceutical industry.
