•The governor is the chief
executive of Bangkok who is
directly elected by voters. He
appoints 4 deputy governors and
all the district officers.
•The Bangkok Metropolitan
Assembly is the elected legislative
branch of the administration.
•At district level, a council of 7-10
members is elected to act as a
liaison between the people and
the district officers.
•Besides its legislative functions,
the Assembly performs checks and
balances on the executive but
cannot recall the governor.
•The governor may be recalled by a
referendum or dismissed by the
Minister of Interior.
•The BMA falls directly under the
supervision of the Minister of
Interior.
