In this study, cassava starch based biodegradable
foams can effectively be produced by compression
process. The average thickness and densities values of all
the foams were 3.37-4.25 mm, and 0.1-0.3 g/cm3,
respectively. At the fiber content of 7.5% gave highest
tensile strength (687 kPa). An increase in the amount of
added glycerol was responsible in an increase the
percentage of elongation of the foams. The addition of
PVA to starch-based foams made of starch and fibers led
to reduction in water absorption of foams.
