Food, and the business surrounding it, is ingrained in Thai culture. Everywhere one looks there is food and the buzz of economic activity surrounding food. The country is the only net food exporter in Asia, the result of an abundance of local natural resources from which 80% of ingredients used in the food industry are sourced. This allows for production at highly competitive prices and global competitiveness. Thailand's food and agricultural industries not only generate several billion baht a year in economic value, but also are an important part of the Thai way of life that still focuses on agriculture.
