Pay full attention to the overall response of the child
Acknowledge the child for every achievement
Do not show any doubt or negativity to what the child says
Do not force the child to speak in English unless he/she chose to do so
Conclude each day by having a quick chat with the child to check if everything is going well
Avoid engaging in discussions with other adults
Do not use laptops, phones, etc during the sessions as this could compromise the quality of your support to the child
Ask the facilitators to speak slowly if they speak too fast for you to translate back to the child
Agree with the child to keep adequate pauses for you to translate
You can jot down key points for easier interpretation
Avoid giving your own opinions
Avoid using unfamiliar acronyms
Inform the facilitators if the child does not understand what is being said
