he purpose of this study was to investigate attitudes and
problems in learning English at Prince of Songkla University, Pattani
Campus, Thailand. This study focused on undergraduate students
at PSU, Pattani Campus. A student questionnaire, structured
interviews, and observation were used as research instruments.
A sample of 35 undergraduate students, studying English as
major their subjects, were asked to answer to the questionnaire by
showing their attitudes and the degree of seriousness of problems
regarding learning English. Further, students were inerviewed
individually, and they were also observed while in the classroom,
library, and in the campus. It was concluded that students had
positive and constructive attitude towards learning English listening
and speaking. But students felt that they should be taught using
more practical methods which involve them practically in the
process of learning and that require more funding on applying those
methods. The outcomes suggest that more attention should be
given to the development of learning English. Students should be
involved in class room teaching by increasing their participations
and roles. Conducting of some programs such as quiz competitions,
speech competition, live discussion on radio or local TV, and
outdoor learning programs require more funding and support from
administration
