I want to exchange my talk for another session. I can talk about ‘my’ research, but actually all of you are doing our research, and nothing of it is mine, but rather all of it is what I want our group to study.
Instead I will discuss two confidential manuscripts that I have been asked to review. I want to structure a discussion about manuscripts and the review process to place all of us in the skins of reviewers, and reflect on what is good and what is bad. This way we can hopefully increase our appreciation of the time that reviewers invest in our manuscripts, but more so what quality criteria we apply to the work of others and how we should seek to improve our own manuscripts. I will bring prints of the manuscripts, we will spend 10-15 minutes reading each manuscript and can then discuss the manuscripts in 1-2 teams. Afterwards I can present my reviews of the manuscripts and my decisions.
Can we move all slots forward (i.e. Vincents starts on Thursday morning)? Then I will host this peer-review session after the journal club I. We need the barcoding marker discussion as a basis for this session.
