The North Anatolian Fault, being a dextral strike-slip
fault, is the main fault line crossing the province through
Yenicaga and Gerede counties and passing a few kilometers
along the south of the provincial center, as shown in
Fig. 2. Besides this main fault, the center hosts three low
angle reverse faults extending intermittently in parallel to
the north of city center, intersecting the city border and
intermittently continuing until close to Mengen county
center.
