Our destination is the ancient city of temples called Angkor Wat. Angkor Wat is located in Siem Reap Province in northwestern Cambodia. It was built under royal decree by king Suryavarman ll of the Khmer Empire at the beginning of the 12th century (around 1112) as the royal mausoleum, as well as a shrine to Vishnu, a god of hindu mythology. Angkor Wat is the castle of quincuncial tower; the central tower is 65 metres high. It covers an area of around 820,000 square metres and is surrounded by a moat of 190 metres in width. Inside the compound, you will experience more of the artistic heritage of the ancient Khmer. What I would now like to discuss is the Gallery of One Thousand Buddhas. As the name implies, this area was once the home of one thousand Buddha images. A travel agent will offer you an aerial balloon ride at the height of 600 feet above Angkor Wat. It is a good idea to visit the Angkor National museum.
