Introduction
Photoprotection in this review refers to preventive and
therapeutic measures taken to protect the skin against
cancer and photoaging. Recommended measures include
avoiding exposure to the sun during the hours of peak
UV irradiation, wearing protective clothing, hats, and
sun glasses, and applying an appropriate sunscreen prior
to exposure.1
These measures are always necessary for
prolonged outdoor activity and are particularly important
for individuals with light skin phototypes, multiple or
atypical nevi, or a history of skin cancer.
